Cello Wine Bar Opens in Midtown

Picture
By Doug Singer

Cello Wine Bar, a  cool new hangout located in Midtown on East 53rd street, is offering New Yorker’s a comfortable, intimate oasis in an otherwise overly commercial and trendy neighborhood.  With a capacity of only 25 and a true warmth and charm, Cello is sure to make an impact. The user-friendly wine selection from around the world, offered both by the glass and by the bottle, encourages diners to comfortably pick and pair exceptional selections with tapas style bites.

Wines by the glass, which range from $9 to $15, run the gamut from traditional Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio to new age classics including Malbec and Albarino.  Selections hail from all over the globe, including California, Washington, Chile, France, New Zealand, Italy, Argentina and Spain.

Cello’s menu of sharable small plates includes Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Brulle, Stuffed Roasted Poblano Peppers, Classic Cheese Fondue, as well as a wide assortment of artisinal cheeses and meats. Additionally, there is a selection of pizzas, salads and panini and for those with a sweet tooth; the dessert menu includes unique items such as Chocolate Fondue, Donut Sandwich and the Cello Pound Panini. The menu is extraordinarily reasonable with 25 selections coming in at under $10.00.

This new nook on the block brings character and charm to Midtown East. Exposed brick and high ceilings give Cello a rustic touch, while adornments including retired wine barrels and a shelf of aging bottles that lace the ceiling, transport guests to an authentic European osteria.
